Kara Bilello
Instructor
Kara Bilello is thrilled to be joining the team at Writopia Lab as a creative writing and debate instructor! As a Korean-American adoptee and an upstate New York native, she is passionate about writing as a means to connect to one’s most authentic voice. She holds two Bachelor’s of Arts from Binghamton University in English Literature and Creative Writing and Spanish Language and Literature. Additionally, she completed coursework towards a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in Nonfiction at Columbia University, where she workshopped with Michael Greenberg and studied under writers such as Leslie Jamison, Phillip Lopate, and Maria Venegas. Her essays have been published in The Year Anthology by Crack the Spine, The Rational Creature (a feminist literary arts magazine where she serves as Assistant Prose Editor), The Every Body is Beautiful Project, and Binghamton University’s undergraduate and admissions publications. Kara is currently working on a memoir and essay collection on her cross-cultural identities, intergenerational trauma, and present healing.
