2025 Winter Retreat for Teen Writers

Writopia Lab's Winter Retreat offers three days and three nights of creativity, reflection, and fun. Each morning, writers will participate a creative writing workshop led by a published writer, in which they play fun writing games to inspire new ideas, get feedback from their instructor and peers, and leave with a polished piece of writing.

In the afternoon, writers participate in one of the following electives: Filmmaking, Songwriting, Visual Arts & Graphic Novel, or Dungeons & Dragons. On the last night, young writers will take part in a cozy share around the fire, where they can showcase their writing and elective projects while enjoying hot chocolate and smores.

Everyone will come together for meals and evening activities in a warm and supportive environment.

Where: Camp Mariah in Fishkill, NY
Ages: 12 to 18
Transportation: Provided from our Upper West Side and Tenleytown labs (Retreaters are welcome to arrange their own transportation to Camp Mariah)
