Food Writing and Family Memoir
Join this workshop with family and loved ones near and far! Together, learn about the intersection of food writing and memoir. Using guiding prompts, writers will begin memoirs about the significant role that food plays in their families, cultures, and communities. Participants will also learn about what it means to write about food, and how to effectively describe flavor, texture, and other food qualities. Within family clusters, participants decide upon a shared family food experience to write about, each from their own perspective. Sharing stories allows participants to see the same event through someone else’s perspective — the results are often thoughtful, hilarious, emotional, sweet, and enlightening for every family member who participates.
