Writopia DC Workshops Are Now in Session!

• Weekly 90-minute after-school and two-hour Saturday morning workshops in Tenleytown, NW DC
• Week-long 3-hour summer workshops in Tenleytown and Old Town!
• Private workshops--your schedule, your location. We’ll come to you! (Perfect for home-schoolers and groups of 3-6 friends.)

2010  Workshop Schedule:

• Winter Session:  January 18 - March 26, 2010 (weekly)
• Spring Session:  April 5 - June 11, 2010 (weekly)
• Summer Session:  June 21 - September 3, 2010 (week-long)
• Fall Session: October 4 - December 17, 2010 (weekly)

Workshops are now in session, but enrollment is ongoing. We prorate sessions for those who sign up late. Students may register for one session or even a full year! Participants who have completed a piece of memoir, fiction, or poetry by the end of the workshop will be invited to read their writing at a local book store during the year.

About the Sliding Scale Fees
WritopiaLab operates with limited resources, relying heavily on support from the community to sustain our programs. So we ask those who can afford to pay full price to do so. Also, if you can afford to pay the full price in monthly installments, that would be preferred as well. However, we realize that not everyone can afford the fee, so we have determined a sliding scale that includes a range of tuition amounts. Please consider your family income, resources, and dependents in the household when determining the appropriate fee for your child. This process is honor-based and confidential. Since we do not require any supporting documentation, we hope that you are honest in your assessment.

Writopia Lab's fees cover the expenses of running a school and allow us to provide generous scholarships and flexible sliding scale fees.

Kathy Crutcher joined Writopia Lab in March 2009. She received an MFA in Creative Writing (‘06) from the University of Arizona in both fiction and creative nonfiction, and has taught composition and creative writing at the University of Kentucky, the University of Arizona, and through the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program. Kathy has also read for various literary publications, including The Atlantic, The Sonora Review, and Limestone, and will serve on the national panel of judges for the 2009 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) “Reflections” Literature Contest. Her writing has earned her an Artist Enrichment Grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, fellowships to writing programs in Prague and Kenya, as well as accolades from contests such as the Glimmer Train Fiction Open and The New Millennium Writing Awards. Kathy is thrilled to be part of Writopia and looks forward to many good reads in DC!
