Julia joined Writopia L.A. the spring of 2009. She has also taught creative writing at 826 Valencia and the University of Iowa, where she earned her MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Her short stories and essays have appeared in several journals and magazines, including The Missouri Review, make/shift, Kitchen Sink, and Monkeybicycle, and she writes semimonthly book reviews for Feministe.us. She has served on the editorial board at Blue Barnhouse Books and currently teaches writing at Long Beach City College.
